Screen Legend Dies Aged 77
Screen Legend Frank Kelly, best known for his role as foul-mouthed Father Jack in Channel Four’s Father Ted, passed away on Sunday night.
This s terrible news, I know, and I apologise for this tribute’s delay.
I used to really enjoy Jack Hackett’s drunken rants on Father Ted, I also enjoyed the lesser known Hall’s Pictorial Weekly.
I’m also assured he was an extremely talented scriptwriter – even penning an Irish children’s show called Wanderly Wagon.
Ardal O’Hanlon, who played Father Dougal McGuire in Father Ted, was quoted in the Mail Online as saying: ‘Frank was an all-round talent, an institution in Irish entertainment, a very determined professional and he’ll be greatly missed by all who knew him’.
He is survived by his wife Bairbre – whom he was married to for 51 years – and their seven children.
